The Mumbai Mission for TB Control

TB is an ancient but deadly disease that represents one of India’s biggest public health challenges. India has the highest TB burden in the world. Large cities represent a distinct challenge for in TB control. While urban living offers opportunities, including potential access to better health care, urban environments can also lead to health risks and new hazards. Urbanization is a crucial factor contributing to the spread of TB.

To address the critical challenge of TB in Mumbai, the MCGM and the Bhamla Foundation launched a comprehensive strategy called the ‘Mumbai Mission for TB Control ‘in March 2013. Our foundation roped in Shri Amitabh Bachchan to be the Ambassador and played a vital role in taking this campaign to the Television Channels as well as Digital Campaign thus giving it the right momemtum. The Mission consists of the Central TB Division, WHO, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) among others.
